Puzzle Mania Acrostic (for All!)

by David Balton & Jane Stewart, edited by Joel Fagliano

Though acrostics often emphasize older solvers' knowledge and cultural references, this puzzle is designed to be accessible to a range of ages. To solve, use the clues below to guess the answers. As you enter letters into an answer, they will automatically be copied into their corresponding boxes in the grid. See the constructors' posts on What Is an Acrostic? and Beginner Tips for more details.

The filled pattern will contain a quotation reading from left to right. Black squares are the only indicator of word endings; some words will continue from one line onto the next. The first letters of the guessed answers, in order, spell out the name of the author and the source of the quotation.

Note: this page does not work on phones. A physical keyboard is required.
